Fructooligosaccharides (fos) are bad and inflame irritable bowel probably because they are made from aspergillus. And they might feed the bacteria that cause ibs.

Beta Glucan from oats are good. Even though yeast and bacterial beta glucans have more immune stimilating effects, I wouldn't trust them because they might contain toxins. However an algal beta glucan from superpure is available [1]. Beta glucan extra tion using peracetic acid [2] Milk oligosaccharides are made with lactose and bind enterotoxins.
