If white spots on tonsils it is group a streptococcus
Mycoplasma and Arcanobacterium are causes [2]. Both are also related to mycobacterium and corynebacterium and can be treated the same way.
If growths are seen or felt in the throat, likely C diptheriae.
If fever is present activated charcoal capsules are always effective
