As opposed to mechanical compression, electric or electrical compression uses opposite charges, however generated or transported, to compress a material (solid, liquid, gas, plasma, etc). This material should usually be non conductive (insulating) but doesn't have to be if the charged surfaces are insulated themselves. This could allow for compressing and or sintering materials together, especially if the compressed material contains solvent or is heated or otherwise treated. This method will be important when high voltage on the order of millions of volts is common in society.
