Cause
Virus
Many viruses implicated especially herpes [1] [2]
Bacteria
Bacteria implicated namely mycoplasma, syphilis and borrelia [3]. These sort of bacteria can invade the nerves. Also it is known as a variant of Guillain-Barre which is caused by clostridium likely c perferingins [4]. Lyme disease heavily implicated [5] thus garlic and adaptogens should help.
Staphylococcus and Enterococcus implicated [6]
Rickettsia implicated [7].
Pseudomonas most common in one study [8].
Fungi
Malassezia most common in one study [9].
Treatment
Garlic and adaptogens. If those don't work, try cinnamon.
Mechanism
Inflammation of the nerve in the bony foramen. Increase in lymphocytes, sometimes neutrophil [10].
